Combing through the different providers of high speed internet in Golden Valley AZ

Golden Valley is a small community that is located in the state of Arizona. The city itself currently has over 4,515 residents, which makes it a reasonably large neighborhood. A company created the community itself from Hollywood, California, called Golden Valley Development Company. The company partnered with Crystal Collins to develop most of the land in Golden Valley, most of which is to the south of Highway 68. Even though the community itself was adequately planned before it was created, high speed internet in Golden Valley AZ is somewhat unimpressive.

The town of Golden Valley is situated in the middle of the Sacramento Valley and is flanked by the neighboring cities of Bullhead City and Kingman. Arizona State Route 68 run right in the middle of the community as is considered its main street. Most of the people that live in Golden Valley occasionally have to travel to Kingman to access large grocery shops and retail stores, which is why the Golden Valley is considered a part of the Kingman community. A vast majority of the residents also work in either Bullhead City or Laughlin, and Golden Valley residents are also considered part of those communities as well.

There is a right mix of blue and white-collar job holders in the area, but most of the residents are generally middle-class income earners. The community is mainly being serviced by two main internet service providers, namely Frontier Communications and Golden Valley Cable and Communications.

The most popular types of internet connectivity options in the community are DSL and cable internet. Although there are a couple of fixed wireless and satellite internet providers that are available. There are currently eight internet service providers that are available in Golden Valley. Out of the eight providers, only six companies offer residential internet service.

There are just a few business establishments that are located within the community, which is why there isn't that much of a need for additional business internet providers. The only wired business internet provider that is available is Frontier Business. The company, unfortunately, does not provide true high speed internet, such as fiber optic internet and dedicated fiber. The company also doesn't offer more advanced enterprise-level service such as point-to-multi-point communications and IP transit. The company only provides small to medium business internet plans that should be sufficient for most shops and retail stores that are found within the community.

Due to the lack of providers, the average internet speeds in Golden Valley is relatively very slow. The average internet speed in the city is around 2.83 megabits per second. The average rate is 91 percent lower than the state's average and 1,118.9 percent lower than the national average. This extremely low average internet speeds can be attributed to the fact that most residential internet service providers haven't upgraded their systems in a long time.

Technologies such as fiber optics and hybrid fiber-coaxial networks are slowly becoming very common in other areas within the United States. Unfortunately, providers in Golden Valley have not yet adapted to the new technologies just, however. As of the moment, residents have no way of getting genuinely high speed internet.

Aside from handling high speed internet in Golden Valley AZ for businesses, Frontier is also the main provider for residential DSL internet service. Because DSL does utilize the same copper wire network used to bring residents telephone service, DSL is relatively very accessible.

As of the moment, Frontier’s DSL internet service is able to serve 75.8 percent of the community’s residents.  A basic internet-only plan with the company is relatively cheap at just $20 per month. This plan already includes an internet connection with speeds of up 6 megabits per second. This speed should be sufficient for one or two users that occasionally do light online activities such as web browsing and accessing social media. It has to be noted that there will be some additional cost that will be involved during the connection process. The company does charge a onetime setup fee of $75 when customers subscribe to their service. A $5 per month modem rental fee is also added on top of the advertised rate. Customers can however purchase their own hardware if they want to save money.

Households with multiple users will probably want to get the company’s higher tier DSL internet plans that have slightly faster internet connection speeds. The company’s fastest internet-only costs just $35 per month and will include an internet connection with speeds of up to 25 megabits per second.

Aside from offer internet connections, the company also does offer a number of bundled packages that include either a satellite television subscription or a residential telephone line. Out of the multiple packages that are available, the best option for most residents will probably be the $90 Triple Play package. This plan will include an internet connection with speeds of up to 45 megabits per second, a premium satellite television subscription with hundreds of channels, and a residential telephone line with unlimited nationwide calling.

Another internet connectivity option for most residents is cable internet. In Golden Valley, the only available provider for cable internet is Golden Valley Cable and Communications. Unlike other cable providers, the internet connection speeds that are being provided by Golden Valley Cable and Communications are relatively slow.

Cable internet access is brought into households using the same coaxial cable networks that are being used for cable television service. This means that most cable internet providers will have good coverage. Unfortunately, Golden Valley Cable and Communications is only covering 40.5 percent of the entire community.

As of the moment, getting an internet connection from the company might not be such a good option for most given its relatively slow speeds when compared to other providers of high speed internet in Golden Valley AZ. Fixed wireless and satellite internet providers offer faster speeds than what the company is currently selling.

A basic cable internet plan with the company will cost customers $29.95 per month. This includes an internet connection with speeds of up to 1 megabit per second. The fastest plan available will cost customers $49.95 per month. This plan consists of an internet connection with speeds of up to 4 megabits per second.

Residents that are not within the range of traditional wired internet networks will probably want to subscribe to either a fixed wireless connection or a satellite internet connection.

The best wireless internet provider available in the community is currently Wi-Power. A fixed wireless internet is a form of internet connection that does not require any kinds of cables to be installed. An antenna that sends and receives data from the provider makes the relationship possible. Unlike satellite internet, the fixed wireless internet cannot be connected anywhere as it has to be within the range of the provider's main site.

Given the relatively small size of the community, Wi-Power does have perfect coverage with over 97 percent of the city being in a range of its network. A basic wireless plan with the company will cost customers $49.95 per month. This plan includes an internet connection with speeds of up to 4 megabits per second. Unlike Frontier, Wi-Power offers their installation and setup free of charge.

However, customers are required to sign a 3-year contract with the company. Customers are not allowed to terminate their subscriptions prematurely. Those who do will have to pay an early termination fee to cover the hardware and installation. For customers who are looking for faster speeds, the company does offer a $99.95 plan that includes an internet connection with speeds of up to 15 megabits per second.

Those who are living in remote areas that are far from the range of wired internet service and even wireless internet service can still get online through a satellite internet subscription. This type of internet service uses satellites in geosynchronous orbit to send and receive data, which means that it can be installed anywhere. Satellite internet is relatively fast when compared to DSL and cable, at least in the case of Golden Valley.

However, it probably cannot be considered as high speed internet in Golden Valley AZ. There are currently two satellite internet providers available in the community, namely HughesNet and ViaSat. Out of the two, HughesNet probably offers more bang for the buck with its necessary internet plans. A basic plan with the company will cost customers $49.99 per month. This will already include an internet connection with speeds of up to 25 megabits per second.

However, having a satellite internet connection installed will entail more than just the advertised monthly rate. The company currently charges a onetime $99 fee for setup and installation. There is also a modem rental fee of $14.99 per month. Customers can still purchase their hardware if they want to. The subscription also includes a 2-year lock-in period, and customers are not allowed to terminate their connection before the period ends. A strict $400 early termination fee is imposed on customers who want to end their contracts prematurely.
